We never thought when we bought Saxon tickets back in 2019 that we wouldn't get to the gig until 2022 due to Biff needing heart surgery and then of course the disruptions to life of the Covid pandemic. It was well worth the wait although the journey into London didn't go as smoothly as we would have liked with the Piccadilly line closed completely for essential maintenance!! Mark had booked an early dinner in what proved to be a little gem of a pub - The Dove., 19 Upper Mall, London, W6 9TA.

The Dove is steeped in history and went into the Guinness Book of Records as having the smallest bar in the world measuring approximately 4ft by 7ft 10 ins having peeked around the door we found it crowded with 2 people and a labrador! It is said that the bar may have been built by a landlord back in the 1700's who wanted to change his coffee house to a pub but needed to have 2 bars in order to have a liquor licence. If you have the time check out the framed list of patrons that hangs over the lower bar’s fireplace. it reads like a Who’s Who guide of the last few decades.

Being January it was a cold day but it would be nice to come back in the summer and sit outside on the balcony overlooking the Thames.

The pub had a great vibe it was obviously very much a locals pub and I was in my element as nearly every group had a dog. Food here is absolutely amazing and there was loads of choice for my gluten free requirements why not check it out for yourself here dovehammersmith.co.uk
